JBER Utilities QA/QC Inspector

EMC maintains a term agreement with Doyon Utilities to perform QA/QC inspections on water, sewer, gas and electrical services. We have performed these services on over 65 JBER projects. EMC’s scope of work is pre-project review of construction documents and submittals, oversight of contractors daily efforts, creating a punch list for each project, reviewing as-built and data points, coordination between Doyon and contractors, monitoring the contractors QC plan and working with the contractors and Doyon to submit final project deliverables.  - Currently ongoing - $230M

180 MW multi-fuel Power Generation Plant contained on a 70 acre site with 3 main buildings. Over 30,000 yards of reinforced concrete was placed within the site. The main Power Block Building was built with a 9’ SOG, with over 2 Million lbs. of structural rebar. This building houses 10 dual fuel engines which are 350 tons a piece. The stack silencers were built on over 60, 28” piles that were driven to the specified depth. EMC provided Quality Control of all structural components. Special Inspections included soils/earthwork, structural steel, reinforced concrete, structural welding, structural masonry, materials testing, pile driving, and NDT testing.  EMC provided a staff of up to 8 personnel to meet the client’s needs.  Completed 2015 - $304M

Ketchikan Aquatic Center

35,000-ft² complex, with two separate pools, gym facilities, locker rooms and playground area. EMC provided special inspection and materials testing services. Completed 2012 - $23.5M

Near Island Research Facility, Kodiak

This structure was a post-tensioned multi-story building with a parking garage in Kodiak. The contractor’s schedule was aggressive and required constant coordination with our inspectors.  Completed 2012 - $20M

Kodiak Launch Complex

This project expanded the Kodiak Launch Complex by adding an additional launch pad, and rocket motor storage facility.  It invoked two concrete and steel underground storage buildings as well as a concrete tilt up utility annex building. The storage buildings contained four massive retaining wing walls.  EMC performed all the materials testing and special inspection services for AK Aerospace Corporation as well as onsite Quality Control for the remote concrete batch plant. Complete 2012 - $42M

City of Kodiak Police Station and Jail

This project involved in intricate system of interlocking grade beams and extensive concrete walls, as well as a significant structural slab. Completed 2010 - $22.8M

 

 

 

Pier 3 Replacement, Kodiak

Initial work efforts included relocation of storm drain line, in water fill placement and sheet pile installation. At completion this project had 1,000 yd³ of concrete , 84 Pre-Stressed Panels, and 87 piles ranging from 120-175 feet in length. EMC performed concrete and soil testing. Completed 2015 - $33M

Ketchikan Shipyard

70,000- ft² Dry Dock consisting of a new assembly hall and production center, a new operations office building, site utility relocation work, and relocation of the existing oily water facility. EMC provided concrete, soils, steel and welding inspections and material testing.  Completed 2013 - $29M

Fire Island Wind Farm

Phase 1 included (11) turbines with 17.6 megawatt capacity. Approximately 25 miles of access roads were also constructed on the island. The contractor mobilized a remote concrete batch plant. We were able to mobilize a large concrete lab facility to cure and break close to 900 cylinders onsite. This proved to be very useful in the initial operations of the batch plant.  EMC completed the following tasks: Gradations, Compactions, Proctors.  Completed 2012 - $65M

This project was comprised of two large Pre-cast concrete tilt-up buildings and a few smaller structural steel framed buildings.  EMC performed soils/earthwork, structural steel, reinforced concrete, structural welding, structural masonry, materials testing, and NDT testing.  We were able to mobilize a large concrete lab facility to cure and break 3,250 cylinders onsite.   Completed 2011 - $220M

This project consists of new construction of a 44400 square foot hangar.  The Hangar has concrete slab on grade foundation, steel framed facility with masonry or metal siding and standing metal seam roof. Completed 2010 - $22.4M

St. Herman Harbor Boat Lift Facility, Kodiak

This project consisted of a structural concrete curb, large structural concrete wash slab and CMU utility building. The new lift can hoist boats up to 180 feet long, 42 feet wide, and 660 tons. This is also one of ten models of its kind in the word, and one of two in North America. Completed 2009 - $10M

Bayside Fire Station Addition - Kodiak

This project involved cornet footings/foundation walls and steel framing construction. EMC was the onsite inspection firm working with the contractor and the KIB to ensure project success. Completed 2009 - $2.2M
